Join us for a webinar presenting the Hydropower Supply Chain Industry Overview Segment, from the Energy Manufacturing in Appalachia program’s Hydropower Overview report. The session will outline how a mature but evolving U.S. hydropower industry—providing nearly 6 % of utility‑scale electricity generation and more than 80 GW of capacity across roughly 2,200 plants—is entering a major modernization cycle driven by upgrades to existing facilities, new capacity at non‑powered dams, and growing demand for pumped‑storage hydropower.

Attendees will gain a clear picture of the upstream, midstream, and downstream structure of the hydropower supply chain, key regional manufacturers and plant operators, and the most acute supply‑chain risks.

The webinar will also highlight regional opportunities in the Northeast and Appalachian Basin—such as small hydropower, run‑of‑river, and in‑conduit projects—and examine how non‑powered dam retrofits, pumped‑storage proposals, and major corporate power agreements are shaping project pipelines and manufacturing demand. Participants will leave with a concise set of insights on where the most promising project and manufacturing opportunities are emerging, and how supply‑chain vulnerabilities and workforce needs could affect project timelines, cost, and regional economic development.

Presented by Matt Henderson, Owner of Henderson Consulting Services and lead author of the Hydropower Overview report for the Energy Manufacturing in Appalachia program. Matt brings more than two decades of business development experience in the energy sector, and extensive work with manufacturers, energy companies, and public agencies on strategy, market entry, and supply‑chain opportunities across U.S. energy industries.
