Digital Bridge

Introduction

The Digital Bridge initiative helps local manufacturers adopt modern Industry 4.0 technology. You can use this support to upgrade products, shop floor processes, shipping logistics, and workforce skills.

Technical Assistance Planning & Implementation

  • Tech Assessments: Identify and prioritize smart factory projects.
  • Vendor Selection: Find and vet the right technology partners.
  • Project Support: Get expert help to reduce risk during tech rollouts.
  • Student Teams: Work with university project teams for no-cost analysis.
  • Lab Access: Use advanced research facilities at Carnegie Mellon University, Digital Foundry at New Kensington, and the University of Pittsburgh.

Access to Capital & Matching Funds

The Digital Bridge program provides matching funds from the Economic Development Administration Build Back Better initiative. These grants help small and mid-sized manufacturers test and launch Industry 4.0 tools. Eligible projects include visual management displays, factory modeling, quick prototyping, and vendor research.

Reimbursements are awarded on a competitive, first-come, first-served basis:

  • Manufacturing Engineering Projects (Up to $10,000): Technical assistance to evaluate advanced tech investments, data analysis, and vendor selection.
  • Production Simulation & Tech Implementation (Up to $25,000): Direct funding for advanced manufacturing projects, including modeling, prototyping, and simulation.
