The Pittsburgh Technology Council has unveiled its annual list of the city’s top 50 technology leaders and innovators.
For the past 22 years, the Tech 50 Awards have served as a celebration and a showcase for tech companies in the Pittsburgh region. Finalists are recognized across categories dedicated to innovators in fields such as healthcare, manufacturing and consulting services.
In addition, this year’s list includes a new category dedicated to robotics and artificial intelligence, an acknowledgment of Pittsburgh’s increasing prominence in the field. The inaugural batch of finalists includes self-driving car company Aurora Innovation and Petuum in the Strip District, which specializes in machine learning.
“There are companies that are helping other companies run more efficiently, helping people learn new skills to broaden their own horizons, making life fun and easier through technology and literally saving lives,” said the Council’s announcement about the awards.
The entire list of finalists can be found here.
Winners in each category will be announced at an awards dinner at the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh on Oct. 25.
“The impact that companies are making here in the Pittsburgh region is felt in the city, region and the globe,” the Tech Council said in a statement. “These companies are critical to our ecosystem to attract new investment into the region while strengthening our existing communities.”
