Lean Certification

Lean Certification Course Objective

The Lean Certification Series is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in basic lean principles, including hands-on experience in the application of those principles.

  • The program includes six days of classroom instruction as well as a practical application project
  • The classroom training will be delivered at the rate of one or two classes per month
  • The program includes a roundtable session during which project report outs are presented and personal experiences (both successes and failures) are shared
  • Lean Certification is designed to prepare the participants to successfully apply lean principles, and to play an active role in their organization’s improvement efforts
  • Certification is achieved by attending all classroom instruction, participation in the round table session, on-site project implementation and satisfactory completion of a written exam.

Classroom training includes instruction in the following lean tools:

*Principles of Lean Manufacturing with Simulation

*Value Stream Mapping with Kaizen Planning

*Practical Problem Solving

*The 5S System for Workplace Organization and Standardization

* Cellular Flow/SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die)


Practical application includes:

  • Expert support in the selection and implementation of a meaningful Lean application in your operation
  • Opportunities to observe and/or participate in the onsite implementations of others in the certification program
  • Roundtable discussion with peers, facilitated by Catalyst Connection’s lean experts
  • Discussion of lean topics in detail, after completing assigned reading on the subject
  • Sharing experiences with peers, learning from other’s successes, as well their mistakes
